KW automotive launches ST XTA for Honda Civic Type R (FC)
The ST XA coilover kit from ST
suspensions not only ensures a maximum lowering for the current Honda
Civic Type R (FC) but also provides excellent road handling. The
adjustable damper technology makes it possible to further increase the
driving dynamics without compromising ride comfort. The compact Japan
sports car can be lowered continuously on both axles by 30 millimeters.
More at www.stsuspensions.net The fifth generation of the Honda Civic Type R (FC) is currently the sportiest compact model of the Japanese manufacturer and has conquered the Nürburgring Nordschleife right away. With a record lap time of 7:43.8 minutes on the most demanding circuit in the world, the 320 hp Honda is among the fastest compact models with front-wheel drive. Compared to the other Civic models, the Type R seriously differs. The body is stiffer, the axle geometry of the drive axle has been revised with a double-axle front wheel suspension and on the rear axle, a new multi-link axle with stiffer wishbones is used. With the new front axle suspension, also known as the so-called “torque steer” the powerful front-wheel drive is reduced.  Adjustable dampers for driving comfort and driving dynamics With the ST XA coilover suspension, the Type R becomes an even more agile sports car. KW automotive, the suspension manufacturer advises that if required, the basic damper setup for the Civic can be further adjusted. For example, if the standard wheels are replaced by a different wheel / tire combination, this can be adapted directly at the suspension kit. Due to the damper setting, drivers can also take influence on the handling and ride comfort. 16 clicks are available to choose from, and each individual click has a noticeable effect. The further the rebound valves are opened via the damper setting, the higher the ride comfort gets when driving slowly. If the valves are closed, the handling characteristics are increased and the body structure tends to roll even less. The feedback from the road is also getting more direct, without the tires losing grip on uneven road surfaces. In addition, the ST XA coilover suspension kit with its adjustable dampers allow a continuously lowering on the Civic Type R. The 320 hp Honda with an elaborate suspension strut construction on the front axle can be lowered on both axles between 10 to 30 millimeters. The ST XA also harmonizes well with driver assistance systems such as the Honda Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and Electronic Stability Program (VSA).
