OETTINGER – The renowned tuner returns to motorsport and starts for the first time in the ADAC TCR Germany

Legendary Rally wins with the OETTINGER VW Beetles / Bugs in the 1950s, entries in the Formula Vee and the Scirocco Cup in the 1960s and 1970s, followed by the DTC in the 1990s: whoever has interested themselves for the history of OETTINGER, inevitably encounters the numerous motorsport activities. Own teams, powerful engines, famous names …,  at OETTINGER the passion for Volkswagen continues until the present day. For the 2019 season the well known tuner from Friedrichsdorf returns to motorsport and starts in the ADAC TCR Germany.

„Through our intensive cooperation with Engstler Motorsport, we were present at all the races of the ADAC TCR Germany in 2018 and were able to enthusiastically follow the exciting wheel to wheel duels live“, says Rüdiger Völkner (Management OETTINGER). „The ADAC TCR Germany is one of the most interesting touring car championships in Europe, and, with the entry of the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, it is ideal for us to go chasing quick lap times“.

The driver line up of the new VOLKSWAGEN Team OETTINGER is impressive, especially Mitchell Cheah (Malaysia), who has already made a name for himself in the TCR Malaysia and TCR Asia Series; such as recently, in Sepang, where he attracted a lot of attention with an outstanding result. „He will be a force to be reckoned with, following a short period of acclimatisation“ according to the OETTINGER-Team coordinator Kai Jordan, who was recently also a winner, driving beside Mitchell Cheah, in the TCR Malaysia. With Maurits Sandberg (Netherlands), the pilot in the second cockpit is also no unknown. The experienced Dutchman made his debut last season. With this high calibre line up, OETTINGER is to be reckoned with in the coming season. The team is aiming to compete for the top places.

The, in the meantime 4th., ADAC TCR Germany season, starts at the end of April (25th. until 27th. April) in Oschersleben (Saxony-Anhalt). The season comprises of a total of 14 rounds in Germany and Austria, as well as the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. All rounds of the ADAC TCR Germany will be broadcast on television by the German TV channel SPORT1.
